Under-8 Boys

Amier Hamzah will take black against Otgonbayar Chinguun of Mongolia at table 14 while his compatriot Teh De Juan will play white at table 42 against another middle-east Iranian player Ganjali Hossein. In the first round, he lost to Israelis player. Ganjali Hossien was born from Tehran, Iran & was placed 20th in the Iranian Iranian Chess Youth Championship 2009 Boys Under 8.

Under-8 Girls

Teh De Zen will play white at board 5 against China Chu Ruotong. In the last year edition in Vietnam, Chu Ruotong was placed 16th position scoring 6.5 points & as black she’ll play French.

Under-10 Girls

Nur Najiha will play black against Indian Savant Riya. However she needs to becareful about Indian players as they are tactical & aggressive.

Under-12 Boys

Mohd Irfan Haqqim will play white against Atayev Huseyn Natiq Oglu from Azebajian. In this game, Mohd Irfan should be able to win. COME ON ADIK IRFAN! Show your SPIRIT! MALAYSIA PASTI BOLEH!!!

Under-12 Girls

WCM Nur Nabila will play white on board 6 against Khomeriki Nino from Georgia. In this she should be able to win her opponent as she got all the resources & experiences.

Camilia Johari on board 22 will play white also will face Lagunow Elina of Germany. Camilia will face an uphill task against her more stronger opponent and if she can get a draw or win, it'll be bonus to her. However Lagunow should not be taken lightly as she had more international exposure in Europe.

Under-14 Boys

Wong Jianwen will play black and face Hungarian Tesik Csaba. Wong should be able to draw or win as he had shown his competancy during Malaysian Open & KL Open.

Elgin Lee Kah Meng should not face any problem against Albanian player Gjika Gent and should record a win here. Any lapse in concentration will cause him to lose or draw.

Under-14 Girls

Penangnite Hoh Tjin Li will play against Albanian Tuzi Bruna. In this fight Hoh Tjin Li should be able to win her opponent. COME ON TJIN LI! Show your SPIRIT! MALAYSIA PASTI BOLEH!!!

Under-16 Boys

Lastly Sumant Subramaniam will face an uphill task against France FM Song Julien.

Shocked Defeat in the U-8 Boys

In the Under-8 Boys category, there was an upset on the first seed CM Acosta Cubides who lost to Gazik Viktor & failed to take opportunity on move number 27.

Teh De Zen & Nur Nabila continued their prowness in the Round 2 of the World Youth Chess Championship by beating their respective opponents. Teh De Zen won Serbian Gajcin Marina in the Under-8 girls category while Nur Nabila beat Russian Paramzina Anastasya in the Under-12 girls category.

Amier Hamzah & Teh De Juan show their supremacy fightback to win against their respective opponents Kucheryavy Vadym & Hallman Valo.

Nur Najiha lost to Gazikova Veronika from Slovakia.

Camilia Johari scored her first win against Australian Pretorius Jana.

Wong Jianwen as expected scored a win against Tairi Krenar while Elgin Lee can only managed to draw Liberian Alfelu Alsaid.

I’d just received a sad news from Gilachess aka Andrew Ooi that his father had just been suffering stroke about a month ago & he’s in Teluk Intan with his father. His gilachess blog & website will be tentatively on hold as he had to take care of his dad. Lets pray for Andrew Ooi father to get well.

Under-8 Boys

Amier Hamzah will play white against Kucheryavy Vadym from Ukraine. In the earlier round, Kucheryavy Vadym hold seeded 6th French player Trouve Guillaume. It will be an uphold task for Amier Hamzah. Teh De Juan will play black against Finnish Hallman Valo. He should at least get a draw or even better a win.

Under-8 Girls

With the win in the earlier round, Teh De Zen will be playing on table 13 as black against Serbian Gajcin Marina. However it will be an uphill task but with the spirit of Malaysia Boleh! anything is possible.

Under-10 Girls

Nur Najiha Hisham is playing at table 8 as white against Gazikova Veronika (Slovakia) seeded 8th. With the experience from the Asean Age Group, hopefully Nur Najiha can win.

Under-12 Boys

Mohd Irfan Haqqim will be facing an uphill task against Lekic Lazar as black.

Under-12 Girls

Nur Nabila should have no problem against Russian Paramzina Anastasya but she should becareful as Russian player tend to play tactics. Camilia Johari will play black against Australian Pretorius Jana.

Under-14 Boys

In the Under-14 Boys category, Wong Jianwen & Elgin Lee should have an easy win against their respective opponent. Wong Jianwen will play against Tairi Krenar as black while Elgin Lee will play against Liberian Alfelu Alsaid as black.

Hoh Tjin Li should be able to draw or win against Lithuanian Lepeskaite Migle.

Under-16 Boys

From Turkey: Malaysian Contingent

Teh De Zen who is seeded 73 playing as white won against Marija Golubeva from Latvia in the Under 8 girls category. The Azman’s sister, Nur Nabila & Nur Najiha also won their respective games against Biryukova Anna from Russia in the U-12 girls category & Ulusoy Nİsan in the U-10 girls category. Amier Hamzah drew the first blood against Luka Oboladze from Georgia in the U-8 boys category.

Teh De Juan lost to Israel player Ariel Erenberg in the U-8. Mohd Irfan Haqqim B Azhar lost his games Huber Martin Christian from Austria in the U-12 Boys. Camilia Johari from KL lost to Indian Mahalakshmi Muganda Kumar in the U-12 girls category. Wong Jianwen from KL playing at the table 10 lost his game against Romanian Doros Radu-Marian while his compatriot Elgin Lee Kah Meng (Penang) also lost his game to Indian Sahoo Utkal Ranjan in the U-14 Boys category. Penangnite Hoh Tjinli having tough time against the host Sasmazel Burcu in the U-14 girls category. Sumant Subramaniam from Pahang lost his game to Indian Udeshi Aditya in the Under – 16 Boy Category.

Favorites for World Youth Chess Championship 2009, Turkey

Under – 8 Boys

In the under-8 boys, we have unofficial 136 players including 2 from Malaysia Amier Hamzah Md Zuhri & Teh De Juan. This year edition we’ll see newly crowned FM Tanuj Vasudeva from the United States and FM Nguyen Hoang Viet Hai from Vietnam as the favorites. FM Tanuj Vasudeva won the Pan American which earned him the title of the youngest FIDE Master in the world at 8 years 2 months & 3 days. FM Nguyen Hoang Viet Hai earned his title through the 10th Asean Age Group 2009 in Vietnam.

Besides them, we also will see Evgenios Ioannidis from Greece who had took part in the European School Championship who i assume will be top seed, Anton Smirnov from Australia, Arsenijs Turko from Latvian and also some unrated Ukranians.

Under – 8 Girls

For the U-8 girls category a total of unofficial 92 players taking part including Teh De Zen from Malaysia. In this girls category newly crowned WFM Annie Wang from United States who won the Pan American will face fierce competition from her compatriot Alisha Chawla, Liza Vigna and Samithra Palakollu.

For Asian countries, Vietnamese Pham Vu Linh Chi, Phillipines Jesca Docena, China Chu Ruotong, and Iranian Seyedeh Fatemeh Hashemi who took part last year edition and some unrated Indian players. Turkey, the host also send 14 players for this category together with Russia & Azebajian.
