Malaysians Making Waves in Asian Schools, Sri Lanka

Out of no where for international scenes, Teh De Juan & Teh De Zen whom both of them hailed from beautiful island of Penang state, Malaysia are making waves at the 6th Asian Schools Chess Championship 2010. The only international scenes they took part was the World Youth Chess Championship 2009 held in Antalya, Turkey except for De Juan with addition of Asian Youth 2010 in Beijing, China. 

Under 9 Category

In this category, Teh De Juan is seeded 36th out of 43 placing. There were 8 FIDE rated players in the category mostly from India. This category has most of the participating countries such as China, Singapore, Australia, UAE, India, Iran, Sri Lanka (27 pax) and Malaysia.  Already 3 rounds played and so far he scored 2.5 out of 3 points. The real test will be against Iranian Ganjali Hossein rated 1755. Ganjali had represent Iran quite a number of times including World Youth & Asian level and also the prestigious 1st Ayandehsazan Chess Cup held in Iran this year. The round 4 starts 2 hours ago.

Under 9 Girls Category

Teh De Zen is seeded 27th out of 30 placing. Only 4 participating nations taking part in this category with mostly from Sri Lanka. Yesterday she caused the major upset when she beat K. Priyanka of India and now she will play against Askey Roshell Nathasha. Furthermore she’s leading in the Under 9 Girls Category with a perfect score. 1st seed Indian Harishini will played black against Sri Lanka 10th seed Herath. The round 4 starts 2 hours ago.
