Kramnik - Anand Round 3 Cruncher! Anand WON!

image  Here I'm login at playchess.com together with our current NM Edward Lee (pic) live commentary on the World Chess Championship Anand - Kramnik Round 3. So far as i know NM Edward Lee had just finished his PMR exams today. I did ask him who will win this round & he straightly answered Kramnik the same opinion as me. According to him, he had checked Kramnik database after move 13 & found 9 games with white won 8 of them!! Pretty Tough for Anand! Let's hope our predictions come true!!

White: Kramnik

Black: Anand

As usual Kramnik played his favorite opening 1. d4 against Anand once again. Anand again played 1... d5 2. c4 c6 3. Nf3 Nf6  transposed it into Queen Gambit Slav Defense. 4. Nc3 e6 5. e3 Nbd7 6. Bd3 dxc4 7. Bxc4 b5 playing the Slav - Meran variation.

8. Bd3 a6 9. e4 c5 10. e5 cxd4 11. Nxb5 axb5 12. exf6 gxf6 13. O-O Qb6 14. Qe2 Bb7 gives the advantage to Kramnik.

Analysis by Hiarcs 9: 1. +/= (0.52): 1. =  (0.02): Anand should have played 14...b4 15.Rd1 e5 16.Bc4

15. Bxb5 Bd6 Black has a good center but a shacky king but if Anand plays it well, the position shouldn't be too bad. In here Kramnik found some difficulty how to play fast attacking play from Anand.

16. Rd1 Rg8 17. g3 Rg4 In here GM Nigel Short commented if Kramnik moves 18. b4 he'll eat his hat!! 18. Bf4 Bxf4 19. Nxd4 seems to be suprising move to Anand as he's unprepared for 19. ...Bxd7+ 20. Kxd7 Nxe6 discovered check! h5 20. Nxe6 fxe6 21. Rxd7 Kf8 22. Qd3 Rg7  seems to be weak move by Anand.  Hiarcs suggested 1. =  (0.06): 22...Bxg3 23.hxg3 h4 24.Qd6+

23. Rxg7 Kxg7 24. gxf4 Rd8 25. Qe2 Kh6 26. Kf1 Rg8 27. a4 Here NM Edward Lee suggest Bg2+ which is correctly played.image

28. Ke1 Bh3 29. Ra3 was a blunder for Kramnik and slight advantage to Anand. Analysis by Hiarcs 9: 1. -/+  (-1.38): 29...Rg1+ 30.Kd2 Qd4+ 31.Kc2 Bf5+ 32.Rd3 Rg2 33.Kb3 Bxd3 34.Qxd3 Qxf4 35.Qe3 Qxe3+ 36.fxe3 Rxh2
NM Edward changed the mind? Mentioned Anand might win but I still hope Kramnik can win this match. However like in Round 2 Anand faced time trouble with less than 7 minutes on his clock.

Rg1+ 30. Kd2 Qd4+ 31. Kc2 Bg4 32. f3

Bf5+ 33. Bd3 Another suicidal move by Kramnik? This time I have to vote for Anand to win this round. Hiarcs analyze 1. -+  (-#11): 33...Bxd3+ 34.Rxd3 Qc4+ 35.Rc3 Qxe2+ immediately win the queen. Therefore force Kramnik immediate resign. Anand played Bh3 My Goodness.. He missed the winning line! 34. a5 Rg2 35. a6 Rxe2+ 36. Bxe2 Bf5+ 37. Kb3 Qe3+ 38. Ka2 Qxe2 39. a7 Qc4+ 40. Ka1 Qf1+ 41. Ka2 Bb1+ 0-1

Thanks to NM Edward Lee for sharing his thoughts about this game!
