Mens Prize Giving Ceremony

In the finals of 1st World Mind Sports Game Team Blitz, the very impressive Hungarian mens team beat their counterparts from China 2.5-1.5 and 2.5-1.5 to win Gold while Russia took revenge for their preminary round loss against China with a comprehensive 2.5-1.5 and 3-1 victory.

So China ended up with Silvers in both the mens and womens events while the Bronze medals were taken by Ukraine and Vietnam who beat India (1.5-2.5, 3.5-0.5) and (3-1, 4-0) respectively.

Earlier, in the Semi-Finals, China's men beat India 2.5-1.5 in the first match and went better in the second with a 3-1 victory to see them comfortably through against Hungary.

The Hungarian men drew a tense first match against the more favoured Ukraine side 2-2 but then won the second match decisively by 3-1 to book their place in the finals.

China's women also qualified for the finals with two 2.5-1.5 victories over a battling Turkey team while Russia trashed Vietnam 3.5-0.5 in their first match before drawing the second 2-2.

Overall Medal Standings (after the Team Blitz): 

1. China: 2 Gold, 3 Silver, 2 Bronze;
2. Russia: 2 Gold
3. Ukraine:  1 Gold, 2 Silver; 2 Bronze;
4. Bulgaria:  1 Gold, 1 Silver;
5-6. Ecuador, Hungary:  1 Gold each;
7. Vietnam: 1 Silver, 1 Bronze
8. India: 1 Silver; 9-11. Greece, Iran, Singapore: 1 Bronze each
