Man City boss also chess player

Who is Dr. Sulaiman Abul Kareem Mohammad Al-Fahim (pic)? Recently we heard of him more on Manchester City football club. He was the owner of the Manchester City football team and bought the club £200 million in 1st September 2008. In January he wanted to buy Kaka from AC Milan £100 million which is going to be the world record & world most expensive footballer. However the deal flops when Kaka decided to stay on at AC Milan.

Dr. Sulaiman Abul Kareem Mohammad Al-Fahim was born 1977 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and more popularly known as Sulaiman Al-Fahim is a billionaire philanthropist.

Al-Fahim was exposed to the business world at an early age. Aged eleven Al-Fahim worked in his father's Orient Pharmacy after school. Aged fourteen he began investing into the stock market under his mother's name and at fifteen invested in the property market. At the age eighteen he founded the "Sulaiman Al Fahim Group" which financed education and sports in the UAE. In 1998 he was left orphaned after his parents and younger brother were involved in a fatal road traffic accident near Dubai Airport. Following the loss of his immediate family he moved to the United States to start a new life. There Al-Fahim received his PhD in Real Estate investment from the American University and a MBA in Finance and Real Estate from Kogod School of Business of the American University. 

Al-Fahim is also a keen chess player. He represented his country as a youth and is currently president of the UAE Chess Association, also claiming to have been ranked fifth in the world at the age of nine. In June 2008 Dr. Sulaiman Al Fahim has been elected as a new president of UAE chess federation for the period 2008 – 2012.
