Doeberl Cup 2009 will start today till 13th April 2009 played at the Hellenic Club of Canberra, Australia. There are total of 76 players which consists of 7 GM's, 3 WGM's, 13 IM's, 2 WIM's, 6 FM's, 1 WFM and others. However for Malaysia, we have representatives whom is IM Mas Hafizulhelmi who will be playing at the Premier section of the Doeberl Cup 2009. Besides Mas, there are two Sarawakians whom are Abang Draup Zamhari & Abang Azman Draup Hj will be carrying Malaysia challenge in the Major Section. In fact all 3 of them just played the recent concluded Thailand Open 2009.
In the Premier Section, GM Dimitri Reinderman from Holland will be the top seed followed by GM Gawain Jones from England. Indian GM Das Neelotpal & fellow countryman GM Abhijit Kunte who also just played in the Thailand Open 2009 with 8th placing will be 3rd 4th seed respectively. IM David Smerdon will lead the host challenge in this event.
