Yesterday was the start of the first 2 rounds Thailand Open Chess 2009 with 122 participants taking part with 9 GMs, 10 IMs, 10 FMs & lots of rated players. British Nigel Short as usual is the 1st seed follow by China GM Li Shilong, India IM Laxman & GM Kunte Abhjit & Iranian GM Moradiabadi Elshan. It will be played at Aisawan Resort & Spa, Pattaya, Thailand from 1st April - 6th April 2009. There are 5 Malaysian representatives IM Mas Hafizulhelmi seeded 12, FM Mok Tze Meng (33), Ismail Ahmad (63), Zamahari Abang Draup(108) & Draup Hj. Abang Azman (105).
