RULES & REGULATIONS

Category:        Individual sections only, limited to 20 – 30 participants per section.

Participation is strictly on invitational basis by the host.  Participants should be chess players who have won at least top ten placing at state-level chess competitions or are strongly recommended by state MSSM chess officials or coaches.

Tournament Regulations:

1.         This 6 Round, individual tournament is open only to invited players by the host.

2.         FIDE (World Chess Federation) rules and regulations will apply.  The tournament will be national rated.

3.         The Swiss Manager Program will be used for pairings.

4.         The games will be played according to the schedule below.  Time control is 25 minutes from move 1. 

5.         All mobile phones & electronic devices are banned in the tournament hall.

6.         All officials & players should be smartly attired in the playing hall.

7.         Draw by agreement only after 30 moves.

8.         All decisions made by the Chief Arbiter is final.

9.         MBSSKL reserves the right to accept and reject entries.

All participants will receive a certificate of participation.  Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.

Entry Fees:     RM10 (non-returnable) per participant payable to Persatuan Catur SMK (L) Methodist KL Maybank Account No. 1640 3428 3940.  Please mail or fax entry form together with payment slip by July 3, 2009 (Friday). Entry fees for MBSSKL students are waived.
